Through the artist-in-residence program and the exhibitions and discussion series, the foundation aims to complement the lack of public support for contemporary art, architecture and design within the country, and to negotiate the rather narrow understanding of art by public administrations in Italy. DEPART will support an open dialogue between experts in the arts, politics, and the academy with audiences of all types. This culture of exchange with be fostered within the rich historical context of Italy, and will provide new perspectives to engage contemporary artistic practices today.
